The academy

From first gripto selection day

The academy is the heart of The Crickpitch. Players move through four stages on real turf, coached in small groups, with a clear next step at every age.

Stage 1
Ages 6–10

Foundations

First proper sessions on real turf. Grip, stance, catching and a lot of fun games.

  • Batting grip and stance
  • Basic bowling action
  • Catching and throwing
  • Love for the game
Stage 2
Ages 11–14

Development

Technique gets serious. Players find their role and start reading the game.

  • Front and back foot play
  • Pace, spin or keeping
  • Fielding drills
  • Match awareness
Stage 3
Ages 15–19

Performance

High-volume turf work for school, club and district selection.

  • Scenario batting
  • Bowling plans and variations
  • Strength and fitness
  • Selection preparation
Stage 4
Any age

Private coaching

One-to-one sessions built around a single player's goals and schedule.

  • Personal technical plan
  • Flexible session times
  • Day or floodlit nights
  • Progress check-ins

One squad, one kit, one standard

Academy players train together on the same turf every week, from first-timers to school team regulars.

Real turf, every session

Four professional turf wickets — not mats — so technique carries straight into matches.

Small groups

Coaches see every ball. Players get feedback, not just repetitions.

Train after school

Floodlit nets mean sessions still fit around school and tuition.

Coaching camps

Learn fromthe best

Alongside weekend training, we bring in experienced international cricketers for special camps, so our players can learn first-hand from people who have played at the top level.

Special coaching camp

A day with Tatenda Taibu

Former Zimbabwe captain Tatenda Taibu, who became Test cricket's youngest-ever captain in 2004, spent a day at The Crickpitch sharing his experience with our players.

  • Hands-on sessions in the nets and on the ground
  • Every player received a certificate of participation
